Learn, step by step, how to navigate the site, with specific examples of research strategies for military and non-military documents. 6.00pm Victoria Martin Research and Records Using the CWGC ArchivesThis presentation looks at our Archives, and explores both our Casualty Archive and the Commission Archive.  It explains how you can research casualties and explains what we record.  It will explain how to access the Commission Archives both in person and digitally and highlights some of the documents contained there, explaining their historical significance.

8.00pm Kirsty Gray Searching for your military ancestors…Military service was a duty undertaken by many of our ancestors over the generations, and service records can provide an unparalleled insight into people’s lives, movements and families. Join Kirsty Gray, Chair and founder member of the Surname Society and chief researcher of the Sillifant Surname Study, as she explores the wonderful world of military records. Illustrated with examples from her own study and others, Kirsty will show you how to locate UK military records, how to identify your ancestors and the targets of your research, and how to synthesise these records with others to flesh out the lives of our ancestors and their relatives.
